Hi! I am in some desperate need of help. I have a 9.5 year old Maltese who means the world to me. This year, he was diagnosed with diabetes and we’ve never been able to get it under control. My vet charges outrageous fees that I can’t afford. Right now, he has a UTI, which I know he has had for a long time. He is supposed to have an appointment tomorrow to find out and that is going to cost me over $100 plus whatever medicine they give him. They want me to take him in every month to check blood sugars, which I understand. But, I pay $35 for a 7lb bag of food, $15 for 4 cans of wet food (unless I mix the two he won’t eat), $40 for syringes, and $60 for insulin. I don’t know what to do. I want him well. He’s a great dog but I’m not sure I can afford to take care of him any longer.
