He tends to get scared/nervous when ever he travels by car to an unfamiliar location so it's important to give him time to get comfortable before handling him. He has no problem with children, the only problem is that he tends to lean on people whenever he wants to get pet and with his size, he might throw a small child off balance and cause them to fall. He has always listened to commands very well and is incredibly food driven so that can be used to get him to do whatever. He does pull on the leash when he sees another dog and barks but when it comes to cats, I don't think he's ever seen one. I don't think he would be the best with small animals like rabbits and rodents because he chases and tries to catch lizards and mice that he finds in our backyard.
