Where are you located?
We do not have a facility, all of our dogs are in foster homes with loving people who have opened their hearts and homes to help a dog in need. We are 100% volunteer based, with foster homes throughout Henderson and Las Vegas.
How do we adopt?
The first step in the adoption process is filling out an application. We must have the application before you will be considered for a dog. You will be contacted within 48 hours or sooner after submitting your application, at this time we will answer any questions and set an appointment for you to meet your dog. We will bring the dog to your home so you can see the dog in your environment, we ask that anyone who lives in the home is there at this time. It is also a great way to see how any current pets will react to a new potential furry family member. While there may be certain dogs you are interested in, the application process will assist us in finding the perfect pet for you. Since we know the dogs personally & have first-hand knowledge of their personalities, please trust us on our suggestions & recommendations. Our goal is a perfect match for everyone, human & canine!
What are your adoption fees and what does it include?
Fees vary between $100-$400, depending upon the age and breed of the dog. All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and have a wellness check with our veterinarian. The adoption fees help us pay for all of the medical care that we do, from dental cleanings to fixing broken bones, our vet bills are high. An adoption fee is not to buy your dog, it is to provide care for all of the dogs we rescue. Whether your dog required a $2,000 surgery or only a current set of vaccines, the fees are consistent based primarily on the age of the dog.
What if the adoption doesn't work out?
We have a lifetime return policy on our dogs, however, we have the application process to help prevent such an issue, so it's very important that you are honest when answering the questions. Not all dogs are compatible in all situations, so it's imperative that you are forthright in the application process so we can help find the right match. However, be sure you are ready to make a full commitment to adopting a dog, whether a puppy or an adult. A dog is not a novelty or a toy, so the prospect of adopting should be well-thought-out & the commitment should be taken seriously. Adoption fees are non-refundable.
Does Wagging Tails Rescue take owner surrenders?
Wagging Tails would be happy to talk to you about your situation. Sometimes we have room to take new dogs into rescue and sometimes people are able to keep their pets after getting support from our team of advocates. Please feel free to contact us with any issue you may have.
Does Wagging Tails Rescue take litters of puppies?
Yes we do! Wagging Tails Rescue holds the belief that our pets should be spayed or neutered to limit the number of puppies being born. If you have a female dog that has a litter of puppies, we would be more than happy to take the puppies and/or mama into rescue. If you would like to keep mama, we would be happy to have her spayed at no cost to you.
